Description: This documentary is a musical portrait of immigrant clarinetist Pericles Halkias and the Epirot-Greek community of Astoria, Queens. Moving between Astoria and northern Greece, the film examines the ways in which the melancholy strains of Epirot music help ease the ambivalencies of immigrant life and promote the unity of expatriates around the world. Each summer, Pericles, returns to his village in Greece to perform at community gatherings. The immigrant experience is also illustrated by George, a young man working as a jeweler in New York City, who returns to Greece to be married in a traditional ceremony complete with his beloved Epirot music.
