This documentary goes behind the scenes of the San Francisco Opera Company to discover aspiring soloists and starstruck dreamers. In the words of the directors: Our film tells their stories and dreams, and explores the traits and circumstances that determine who becomes a star and who remains in the background. Using portions from eight operas to parallel and comment on individuals' life stories, we examine the boundary between private lives and the staged spectacle.
