Description: Describes how Oliver Hardy is jilted and decides to drown himself in the river. Explains how, through a series of strange events, both Ollie and Stan end up in the Foreign Legion. Ollie falls in love with Georgette, the beautiful daughter of an innkeeper, and intends to marry her. She turns down his marriage proposal because there is someone else, "very much so" A Foreign Legion officer named Francois (Reginald Gardiner) is her husband, and has returned briefly to see her. The duo enlist in the Foreign Legion in order to forget their failed romance. They are sentenced to menial hard labor, washing and ironing a mountain of laundry, with legion officers constantly on their backs.
