A 37-minute documentary shot in a mix of color and black-and-white, offering a ground-level view of Germany in the immediate postwar period. Early sections show ruins up close in color — collapsed facades with vegetation already creeping through the rubble, including one bombed-out building with a partially readable sign for a German business ("Eric Grahl"). The film moves between scenes of physical destruction and ordinary street life: a horse-drawn covered wagon rolling past a German bakery ("Bäckerei Nagel"), shop shelves being stocked with goods, and the texture of daily existence in a city struggling to resume normality under occupation. Rather than a sweep of historical argument, it reads as an observational record of a particular place and moment — Germany caught between catastrophe and the slow, unglamorous work of starting over.
