Description: San Francisco hosts the Republican National Convention where former New York governor Thomas Dewey receives a rousing ovation for his speech and leading Black Republicans cite their reasons for endorsing the Eisenhower/Nixon ticket. In sports, Morgan State College stadium sees the Morgan Bears collide with the North Carolina State team in the opening CIAA game of the football season. At Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, the World Series begins as President Eisenhower throws out the first ball to Dodger catcher, Roy Campanella. (This film is part of the Tyler, Texas Black Film Collection, a group of motion pictures made between 1935 and 1956 featuring mostly or all-Black cast, produced and/or directed by African American filmmakers and shown primarily to Black audiences. All films are preceded by a 4 minute explanatory introduction by Ossie Davis.)
