Hello everybody. I'm Skip Almer. Welcome to the AV Geeks lunchtime streaming show where we watch old 16 mm films and sometimes a 35mm film and um yeah, so that never had a soundtrack. Um and there wasn't anything to read. It was one of these activities where kids are supposed to recognize numbers. Um, so I run across those occasionally where they're not really something you can read. They there's some sort of activity involved. Um, I've tried to show those live and sometimes the audience gets it and it's a lot of fun and sometimes it is incredibly awkward. So that was somewhere in between. All right, what do we got here? Uh, speaking of awkward pipe cleaners in church, [singing] [music] [music] [singing] >> aren't you going could stand up and sing. But I'm not a man. Oh, in this case, you're a man. Men of God includes both men and women. >> It does. her [music and singing] greatal. [singing and chanting] [music] >> And so, my brethren, we are reminded once again that every man is a son of God and that all mankind is one brotherhood. >> Why does your pastor speak of man and son? Is he not speaking to the women? >> Of course, he is. Women are included in those words. Man includes woman too. And our word son includes daughter as well. >> You have a very strange language. Man includes woman. >> And that brethren is what it means to be a real man of God. >> [singing] [music] >> Wait a minute. Don't tell me >> father includes mother. >> Now you're catching on. [singing and music] [music] >> Oh, I'm not included. All right. Uh, yeah. Um, pipe cleaners and, uh, pronouns and, um, you know, language. It's hard. It's confusing, especially when it's French. Madam Luisch. Sebastian feminism. BTC Andre. for [music] two. or villary or human body or therefore movement. for elegant feminis. Christmas. Superior sociolog. Dad was Andre. Fore! Foreign! Foreign! foreignitude. Fore personality. The desert camera. smoking gentlemen. to respect Paris. [music] What happened? Just kind of ended. Um, I've shown a lot of these this next series. Uh, and I lost track cuz we've been showing them as we scan them. Uh, but this is another French film featuring our favorite, uh, young adults, uh, the Twit Lab. Um, episode two. Enjoy. >> [music] >> Mhm. Elizabeth [music] Yes. Elizabeth. No. for you. We Jazzler of Holy Flur. We speech You don't party. Fore! Foreign! Foreign! We miss you. Mhm. for superb. Oh, madame We are madam. >> [music] [music] >> We miss you. foreign. We miss you. Foreign speech. Foreign speech. Foreign speech. Rose. Yeah, madame. Madam mercy. for you know Madame, mercy, madam. Come on. Foreign speech. Foreign speech. Foreign speech. foreign. I promise you. [applause] Yeah. Elizabeth for sound Egg. I don't [music] prefer music. The I'll go for Hello. That's [music] Who's good? Oh, for me the flash. Oh, yeah. Do you [laughter] You could play [laughter] Don't for [music] for Elizabeth. Elizabeth, come on. Buddy, [laughter] [music] hey. [music] Heat. Heat. [music] [music] >> [music] [music] >> Yeah, that's that theme song. Um, and the exciting adventures. It's, you know, it's like a like I said, it was like a um almost like a sitcom. It has a Thre's Company vibe in my mind, but um in French and uh probably without all the sexual innuendo. Okay. Um, speaking of music and songs, uh, it's been a while, but I think we're due. Um, what we're going to watch next, and some of you will remember this, um, is a 4 show featuring animation, songs, and a mild ripoff of the Monkeys TV show. Uh this is a time when in television uh late 60s early 70s where everybody solved crimes and everybody was in a band. This is the great nutrition turn on mulligan stew. Enjoy. [music] Bet you don't know what fruits have the most vitamin A. >> Oh, which fruit has the most vitamin A, you ask? [laughter] A basic question demanding only the most basic of answers. >> Banana. >> No, you dummy [music] duck. >> Without vitamin A, we would have a difficult time distinguishing the various shades of gray. We might find ourselves unable to see at night at all. Now, most fruits have vitamin A in them and green leafy vegetables have vitamin A. >> But what fruits have the most vitamin A? >> Why anyone knows it's apples? >> Wrong. >> Wrong. >> Wrong. Right. >> Wrong. Very good, but not that nutritious. >> What fruits do have the most vitamin A? Sugar. Cantaloupe. [music] >> Pretty deep. Cantaloupe for your eyes. Oh, well, pretty. I don't know about you, but my eyes aren't getting any better at all. Do you know what extra vitamin is added to food to make sure that you get a well-balanced diet? >> Vitamin A? >> Nope. >> Vitamin B1? >> Nope. >> Vitamin B2? >> Nope. >> Don't you say anything but nope. >> Nope. >> You pose the riddle. Which extra vitamin does one need if he's eating a wellbalanced diet? >> That's right. >> Vitamin C. >> Nope. >> Nope. >> Nope. Nope. >> Vitamin E. >> Nope. >> Vitamin K. >> Nope. Dummy. >> What is it? >> Vitamin D. >> Really? Vitamin D? It must have slipped my mind. >> How many food groups are there in a Daily Balance [music] diet? >> Uh, 11 >> food groups. It's got to be here somewhere. >> Four. >> Milk group, [music] meat group, >> fruit and vegetables group, bread and cereals group. Let's balance diet. Do [screaming] [music] [music] >> [music] >> I'm Maggie. I'm Mickey. >> I'm Mike. I'm Manny. >> And I'm Mulligan. >> And we're Mulligan. Shoot. >> Yeah. What does the message say, >> Mulligan? Mulligan, what does the message say? One second. I've almost got it. Well, >> well, >> well. >> Well, >> I've got it. Well, >> the message says a courier from upstairs is about to arrive here at any minute with a job from Mulligan Stew. >> A courier. Who's Who's there? >> A courier from upstairs. >> Upstairs. [music] >> [music] >> You have our assignment from [music] upstairs. Upstairs right here in this folder. >> Let's see it. Not so quick. You can't be too careful with these things. [music] Who are these kids? They look suspicious. >> Oh, Wilbur. You know them, Wilbur. It's the rest of the mulligan stew for >> you can never be too sure. You know, it could have been a pot. >> Oh, Wilbur. Let's see the assignment. over here. [music] >> Here it is. >> Let's see it. >> Not so quick, my dear Mulligan. First, I've [music] got to present the background to the case. >> Well, get on with it. We'll >> be okay. Don't rush me. [music] Now, first we have to look at some of the evidence that I brought along with me. [music] Oops, wrong channel. [laughter] I remember it's on the top secret channel. This is the town of Lazy Susan, USA. It's a typical town in America. Except for one thing, Mulligan Stew. The town is falling apart. The people are too tired to work, too. The [music] mailman too tired to deliver the mail. And the grocery boy too. [music] The cow too tired to give milk. The barber too tired to cut hair. In short, everybody's tired. [music] Kids, moms and dads, old folks. Your job, Mulligan Stew, is to find out what's wrong in the town of Lazy Susan and remedy the situation as soon as you can. We don't want this to turn into a national disaster, do we? >> Of course not, Wilbur. >> Good. Because they're counting on you. >> Upstairs. >> Up there. >> Now, here are your assignment papers. All the documents and evidence we'll need to crack this case in Lazy Susan. >> We You don't mean that you're >> planning to >> help us >> on this assignment? >> Do you, Wilbur? Of course, [gasps and laughter] I am the uh fourth assistant to the general manager in charge of cracking tough assignments, you know. >> Oh, great. Feeling so cool and smart. Knowing that all the while you got [music] good nutrition, good nutrition, good nutrition. [music] And it's all right with me. When you're [music] on top of me, there's no place to live it up. Feeling on top [music and singing] of me flowing. [crying] [laughter] I just love a good cry. >> All living things need nutrients to live and grow. >> What are nutrients? >> Why anybody knows that nutrients are the substances that all plants and animals, including man, need to live and grow. >> Yeah, but what are nutrients? Proteins are nutrients. So you need protein to live and grow. We get protein from meat, fish, chicken, and from eggs, milk, and cheese. >> You get protein from dry beans, peas, and nut. >> One nutrient is protein. >> Another nutrient is carbohydrate. We need carbohydrate to live and grow, man. >> Honey has carbohydrates. So does sugar, molasses, and maple syrup. So do breads and cereals. >> Grits have carbohydrates. So does spaghetti, macaroni, and noodles. >> Candy has lack of carbohydrate. >> Fats are another nutrient. >> We get fats from cooking oil and from butter or margarine, from salad dressing and lots of other foods. >> And we also need vitamins and minerals to live and grow. >> Vitamin A to B vitamins. >> Vitamin C. Let us have a little Let me focus it. >> Golly, what's that? That's a living cell. >> You mean I have cells that look like that? >> We all do. If our cells are healthy, those cells look awful. Sure. From lack of good nutrition. >> Whose body did those cells come from? One of the people from Lazy Susan, they have pooped out cells. Then we'd better do something about it and right away. >> Hello. I'm doing a series of interviews on nutrition. Do you know the four basic food groups? >> Uh, no, not really. >> No, I don't. >> Meat, vegetables, >> fruits, and vegetables. >> Fruits and vegetables. >> No, I don't. >> Bread and cereal. >> Bread and cereal. >> And milk, >> right? >> What do you get from these food groups? Okay, we've solved the problem with the people and animals of Lazy Susan. Right. >> Right. >> The problem is they just aren't eating right. They don't know anything about the four food groups. They don't even know what vitamins and minerals are all about >> or nothing about proteins and fats and carbohydrates, >> right? And we've got to figure out a way to tell them where it's at >> and all about proper rest and exercise >> and how to plan a balanced diet with foods that are fun to eat. Okay, then here's my plan. Wilbur. >> Oh, Wilbur. I'm here. [music] >> We can see that, Wilbur. >> Well, I'm ready to begin. >> Ready to begin what, Wilbert? >> To figure out what's wrong with people in the town of Lazy Susan. >> We already figured that out, Wilbur. [music] [music] [music] [music] I uh I really love this series. the more I watch it, uh, the more I love it because this was distributed, uh, to be shown on television mostly. And so I'm sure like at four o'clock in the morning um the time relegated for uh these public service announcements from the Department of Agriculture which ultimately this came from. Um I'm sure that these would show up and so you'd have people that were um watching this uh and ideally kids would watch it because that's who they're trying to target. Supposedly, there was a comic book uh of this series as well that came out. Um but uh I have other films in this series and we will I'll try not to overwhelm you with them. Uh we showed them uh six years ago during the co and so um yeah, anyways, thanks for watching today. I appreciate your eyeballs. Uh, I totally had a film set up on the scanner and forgot uh because I got so involved in uh to lab and uh wanting to show you the great nutrition nutrition turn on. But um yeah, uh let's see each other tomorrow. Hit the thumbs up, hit the like button always. Um, even if you've done it recently, uh, as far as the thumbs up, um, and you can donate via the superthanks button, patreon.com/avgeeks or ko-fi.com/avge geeks. I have a meeting later today where I'm going to talk to some people about creating a 24/7 YouTube channel and maybe Twitch channel. Um, we'll see how that works. if you have some opinions about that and this would be adver it'll be a lot of advertising on it but um this would be something they would manage. Uh so write us at skipabeeks.com if you have some ideas or suggestions. Um this is very exploratory. There's nothing set in stone but it is something that I've been wanting to do for a while. Uh so um yeah, let me know uh either in the comments or preferably you could write me at skipabs.com. So that's later today. Um, everybody had
