The Triple Jump

Uses slow-motion scenes to analyze the key movements in this rigorous event: the approach run, the powerful first hop, the long step, and a long jump in the third phase. Shows training for speed and distance which include: running against resistance from a belt harness; a variety of conditioning exercises involving jumping and hopping over obstacles; rhythmic, timed sequences mixing hopping, stepping, and jumping; and workouts by jumping up and down stadium steps. Emphasizes the conditioning needed to avoid injury from shocks absorbed in this jump. Concludes with an actual competition involving four European athletes.
