Produced by Phil Simon Nature Films
Footage shot inside a hive illustrates the bee's amazingly complex society. Shows the queen laying eggs and relaying whining "morse code" messages, police and nurse bees on the job, and worker bees air-conditioning the hive to a constant 34 degrees by fanning their wings. Describes how queens are developed, what happens when there is a population explosion, and some aspects of beekeeping, including building the hives and extracting the honey
