The Himalayan Mountains and the tea garden where 15-year-old Kisore and his family live and work provide a background for this exploration of family life in India. The father works as a watchman and carpenter while the mother and grandmother pick tea leaves on the rugged mountainside. The children have chores to do but also find time for playing games. Highlights include an impressive Buddhist ceremony, and a sequence showing how tea leaves are processed at a local factory.
