Description: Made in 1956 for the home market and released by Castle Films, this travelogue of New York shows off all the highlights of the Big Apple. It starts with images of the Statue of Liberty (:29). At (:45) a large ocean liner (probably the S.S. United States ) is visible in the harbor. At (:55) are images of the downtown including an aerial (1:09). At (1:27) a shot down Broadway, and (1:38) Wall Street including the Sub-Treasury. Brooklyn Bridge is shown at (2:34), and at (2;47) the Lower East Side with fruit vendors, Italian grocers and more. At (3:05) Chinatown, (3:45) Washington Square with its art market, the Empire State Building (4:45), the United Nations (5:10), Fifth Avenue (5:38), Rockefeller Center (6:07), St. Patrick's (6:51), Park Avenue (7:13), Central Park (7:32), and Coney Island (8:07) are shown. At (8:43) the George Washington Bridge is shown and Harlem (9:20) teeming with African Americans. At (9:42) Grant's Tomb is shown. The film ends with shots of Times Square (10:00) and the Great White Way.
