Complete Record: “Fitting In”. “Social Happiness”. Shows how teenagers wrestle with personal difficulties and solving problems themselves- with occasional guidance from wise adults. Progressive approach. Unintentionally humorous. High school kid Phil Norton is a transfer student with no friends. He is a true geek, he spends all his time in the basement, building a radio or maybe maybe a record player - it varies from scene to scene. His father offers him advice on fitting in. Phil then studies the popular kids in school. He sees that they are good listeners and are always polite and helpful. At an afterschool mixer Phil offers to help Beezy Barnes (a fellow radio geek), and the gang immediately becomes interested in Phil. Film ends with dad coming down basement with Cokes for Phil and his new friends.
