Description: Red Groom's sculptural work, Ruckus Manhattan, is a large scale environmental rendering of New York City's most characteristic architecture. Red Grooms and Mimi Gross sketched and photographed landmarks such as the Woolworth Building, the Statue of Liberty, the World Trade Center and the Staten Island Ferry as well as the city's subways and peep shows. These were then reconstructed in steel, fabric, elastic and paint. The entire 13-month process is compressed into this fast-paced film which documents the evolution of the piece and evokes its comic, frenetic spirit.
