Description: Hammer explores the pool design, the most female of architectural forms. At William Randolph Hearst's castle at San Simeon, she records the neoclassic splendor of two pools that were the work of architect Julia Morgan. The film moves from one body of water to another, beginning underwater in the inside pool and ending above water alongside the outdoor pool. Hammer documents the detailed tile work, the goddess statues and Grecian columns. She then transforms them into abstract shapes through coloration.
