Description: This film forms the first section of Frampton's seven-part Hapax Legomena and contains the elements of personal autobiography and audience participation. Frampton recounts his past as a photographer by showing a series of his photographs, burning slowly one by one on a hot plate while a voice describes the next image which the viewer sees. The film deals with the impossibility of describing an image; the mental picture one forms is different from the image that appears.
