New York portrait. Part 2

Hutton continues his meditative observations of the Manhattan environment with a series of haiku-like episodes filmed from 1980-81. Aerial spectacle is juxtaposed with earthbound tribulation. Planes, in choreographed movement, create jet stream designs. A dirigible floats between the crenellated facades of two buildings on its way to Hudson River festivities. On city sidewalks, the camera lingers on the sleeping forms of the homeless. Two urban dwellers wade through flooded streets on the Lower East Side.
