Description: "A biography of Fridtjof Nansen, Norwegian scientist, explorer and statesman, with particular emphasis on his relief work for famine-stricken Russia in 1921. Nansen failing to induce the League of Nations to assist the starving millions in Russia, visited the relief capitols of Europe and as a result the European Red Cross organizations fed and clothed over a million and a half inhabitants of the Volga and South Ukraine regions.
