Description: . Reports from Washington on the campaign bring disheartening news. Ben Franklin and Adams are sent to Staten Island, New York, for negotiations with Lord Howe, commander of the British forces. Later, John Adams is appointed commissioner to France and his son John Quincy accompanies him on his journey to Europe. When in France, Adams takes over the administrative duties while Franklin promotes good will at court. In search of another ally for the colonies, Adams leaves France for the Netherlands. After his success in Holland, he returns to Paris for peace negotiations with Great Britain. Ends after the treaty of Paris is signed.
