Controversy Over the Moon

Presents two well-known geological arguments as to whether the volcanic theory or the impact theory correctly explains the origin of prominent lunar features and records data to support their different views. Examines specific features of the crater Copernicus including the central mountains, terraces, surrounding small craters, and the rays, giving explanations for each by examining analogous earth features which support both theories. Shows that two investigators using the same data can come to different conclusions which must await further testing., Describes the efforts of scientists to determine the composition of the moon and how it affects the solar system, what meteors are made from and how craters are formed.
