Today we'll be reading about Columbus and his first voyage to the new world. Columbus had three vessels on his first voyage. They were the Santa Maria and two smaller vessels, the Pinta and the Ninia. The fleet sailed from Palo, Spain, August 3rd, 1492. Columbus's plan for reaching the fabled Indies did not include his discovery of a new world. >> This is Starlift control to command module. All systems ago. We're at Tminus 2 and counting. Those flames from that oil well fire in Long Beach, California are still raging out of control, but no injuries have been reported so far. And the flu epidemic has now become worldwide, and doctors say it has still not reached its peak. Peace talks are continuing tonight, and Washington sources have it on good authority there's something a foot. in the next few days may well pretend >> your responsibility is to bring peace in the midst of strife. >> We You have that now. >> Ladies and gentlemen, we take you to the floor of the United Nations where our ambassador Robert Anderson is about to address the UN Council. I am pleased to report that through my own diligent efforts, we now have world peace forever.
