China: Under the Mongols

Covers the Mongol domination which resulted in political, social, and economic discrimination for the conquered people (1279 A.D. to 1368 A.D.) through a variety of artifacts, documents, and art materials. Explains that the Mongol leader Temujin (Genghis Khan) established a strict code of law and chose people for influential positions from diverse ethnic groups. Records the ruthless expansion and external conquests and outlines the difficulties of Chinese intellectuals under this oppressive regime. Observes that toward the end of this dynasty rebellions resulted in the return of native rule with the advent of the new Ming dynasty.
