Description: Examines the teaching and performance of the traditional Balinese dance, Legong, and the gamelan music which accompanies it. Follows the narrator as he returns to Bali to visit his former gamelan teacher, I Made Lebah, and his granddaughter, Ni Luh, who is a former Legong dancer and is currently teaching her daughter, Kade, to become a Legong dancer. Shows the many hours of rehearsal for the dance, and the final production which is performed during an important Balinese festival in a nearby village. Compares archival film footage of Legong dancing from 1933 and 1969 with the current dance as it is performed today.
