The Rapid Battle Damage Repair Team at Kelly Air Force Base, TX, trains in realistic battlefield conditions to make emergency repairs on crippled aircraft. Baling wire, tape, and human ingenuity combine to get another mission from aircraft which otherwise might have been abandoned. This team not only maintains a flying unit’s combat strength, but also saves millions of dollars for the air force. The Air Force has a key role in the Rapid Deployment Joint Task Force. the linking of 230,000 men and women from the military services into a force which can quickly be moved anywhere in the world is a powerful incentive for peace. The Air Force’s Military Airlift Command provides the essential rapid transportation for this linkage of America’s air, land, and sea forces. Training exercises around the world have tested this force and proved we can place America’s power where it is needed....quickly!
