thank you monkeys most monkeys live in the hot parts of the world near the equator [Music] also spend a lot of time in the trees climbing and swinging on the branches their hands and feet help them hold on tight usually [Music] most monkeys have tails long ones trees are a good place to find leaves and fruit and flowers to munch on babies of course stay near mother she's their food supply but not all monkeys live where it's hot these monkeys live where it's cold in their snow they live in Japan they're Japanese macaques [Music] in the winter the snow monkey's fur grows very thick even the babies get warm for coats when there aren't leaves or berries to eat bark and twigs taste almost as good snow monkeys like other monkeys pick dry dips of skin from each other's fur this is called grooming they seem to enjoy it monkeys eat the bits of skin they find in bits of salt that are there too [Music] even though these macaques live in a cold snowy place the kind of place hardly any other kind of monkey lives in they are monkeys but some animals that look like monkeys aren't really monkeys lemurs are only relatives of monkeys lemurs usually sleep during the day and look for food at night most lemurs live on a big island that's off the eastern coast of Africa Madagascar now this is a monkey this is called a lion-headed marmoset it's the world's smallest monkey and lives in South America you can see how small marmosets are they're hardly as big as a flower like all young mammals do baby marmosets depend on their mother for food and protection and for transportation too this is another kind of monkey a squirrel monkey Squirtle monkeys live mainly in Central and South America monkeys have very good eyesight good eyes help them move safely through the trees all monkeys are good climbers but the squirrel monkey is one of the best thank you they're the smart little mammals of the trees monkeys [Music]
