[Music] [Music] beavers beavers use their sharp front teeth to cut down trees and GW through branches so they can get at the tender bark that's near the Treetops and when they've eaten off all the bark they can then they use the trees and branches to build their houses and [Music] dams a beaver can chop down a small tree in a few minutes usually a whole Beaver family works together but one adult always keeps on the lookout for danger this is a pond that beavers made this is the dam that made the pond and beavers built the dam [Music] d a beaver's house is called a lodge beavers build a dam across a little stream and it gets to be a big pond beavers need deep water where they live because they're water animals even though they spend some of their time eating and a little of their time scratching beavers spend much of their time in the pond that's where they get the materials they need for their Dam and Lodge the materials are all [Music] around this is how the beaver does it first it finds the right place for gnawing and then it starts to gnaw [Music] and another branch is ready to be [Music] used when beavers go underwater their ears and nose close [Music] up and so all day long the Beavers keep busy dragging the branches they've cut into the [Music] water Busy Beavers swimming gnawing carrying lifting and a little bit of eating a beaver's LOD is usually built out in the pond the entrance is underwater beavers can stay underwater for 15 minutes and keep swimming all the time what helps beavers swim well is the way their back feet are webbed just like a frog's feet the beaver uses its tail to steer it through the water like a boat uses a Rudder the Beav uses its small front feet to pack the mud and branches into the dam you can't really see what the beaver's tail looks like until it gets out of the water it looks more like a paddle than a [Music] tail beavers weave the branches into the dam and make it bigger and stronger and then the mud holds it all [Music] together beavers are pretty safe in their ponds but if it seems like there might be some Danger the beaver slaps its tail on the water that's a signal to the other beavers and when the danger is gone when everything looks safe to the Beavers they can get back to their important work [Music] again beavers [Music] [Music]
