Description: This film is the story of a tough yet sensitive Black boy living in an oppressive religious orphanage. Together with a friend, Willie escapes to New York City. Ultimately alone, Willie survives in the South Bronx amidst the shells of abandoned buildings and cleans windshields in order to earn money for a bicycle. Willie finally receives warmth and compassion through two teenage girls and their mother. , A portrait of Willie Jaramillo, a poor Chicano living in Bernalillo, New Mexico. Director Danny Lyon first filmed Willie as a 12-year-old boy for Llanito (1970), as a troubled teenager in Little Boy (1976) and now at 27, an anti-social ex-convict just released after six years in the penitentiary of New Mexico. The director interweaves footage of Willie as a child and as an adult. Scenes of Willie's life in Bernalillo contrast with his harsh existence in prison.
