of greatness and glamour yes hollywood its chief attraction the offering of a fast and unique life to all basking beneath a warm sun the year round this mecca for those seeking the unusual is quickly becoming one of the nation's most popular spots its streets like those of new york london and paris are personalized and famous throughout the entire world streets like hollywood and pines nearly everyone who comes to hollywood inevitably visits this widely publicized intersection hoping to brush shoulders with the movie stars not to be overlooked are hollywood's many bizarre hotels which are probably more varied in size shape and type than the hotels of any other town or city but deep in the heart of hollywood near gower and sunset there is a spot where most of the town's popular figures pass daily here a tourist often catches a glimpse of some of columbia studios glamour gals passing to and fro and sometimes is given welcoming greetings which in itself is worth a trip to hollywood speaking of studios they are of course foremost in hollywood prominence vast and imaginative plants the studios create for millions another world a world of incomparable magic and make-believe warner brothers for example is recognized throughout the world for its costly musical production creative genius has made the movie industry of today one of the largest and most progressive in the nation through studio gates past the specialized skills and talents of this industry workers endowed usual jobs throughout the expansive studio lot there are often many different motion pictures in production at the same and fortunately such a vast industry provides employment for many of hollywood's residents some of these people are remarkably versatile in their talents for example universal's walter lamp from whose imaginative brain came the erratic little rascal of the cartoon world woody woodpecker more than anything else the studios give hollywood its reputation for the unusual and yet the creators and actors of movies are in real life simply ordinary people the same as you might find in any other town well that is almost all all except the fine feathered friends of the stream who are truly rather unusual studio employees next to film them in hollywood's greatness is radio from radio row on sunset boulevard comes the nation's top radio entertainment which is often relayed throughout the entire world here the visitor sees in real life the voices he has often heard columbia square is today the last word in radio from its broadcast studios originates an endless stream of programs radio row is quickly becoming a focal point in world entertainment [Music] and if there is ever anything unusual to come from radio in the future it will doubtlessly appear here of all hollywood thoroughfares most widely known and personalized is hollywood boulevard along this famed boulevard is strong a variety of unique theaters romans chinese for example conceived in the imagination of mr sid groman here in hollywood the motion picture theater is an institution constructed with such unique designs so as to make each a monument imprints who owns a grauman's large patio present film dom's biggest name the visitor is overwhelmed to find that where he stands his favorite screen star has also stood nowhere else in the world has such an original idea been conceived been a momentous hit unique is famed hollywood bowl where symphonies are held under the stars performances known the world over and of course everyone has heard of earl carroll or it is here where hollywood nightlife really begins within these corridors appear the most lovely and glamorous girls in all the world an orchid to tom brennaman and his vine street hangout where most visitors enjoy breakfast in hollywood with odd hats and kisses for the ladies tom is one man who can ask a woman's age and get away with it scarcely but a stone's throw away is the famed radio room here in his house another unusual performer the famed freddy fisher his unique personality labels him the colonel of corn of course hollywood has its sophisticated night spots too not to be outdone by new york or chicago names of top flight entertainers appear on every marquee this is the land where even prize fighters build nightclubs and cafes and restaurants are shaped like derby hats [Music] everyone has heard of mike lymon a most picturesque campus is that of los angeles city college while across town the expansive campus of ucla overlooks hollywood from the westwood hills each of these schools is often used as a background for motion pictures depicting collegiate life and many movie stars claim them as their alma mater [Music] but not all is glamour in this fabulous land or it also has its serious side but even in its serious vein hollywood again yields the unusual or here in the midst of this fast living town is the exact replica of a small country church about all you do is name it and hollywood's got it hollywood is keenly religious with all denominations represented the first methodist church has been the scene of many movie marriages aw inspiring and breathtaking is the spire of hollywood's catholic church it reigns with its silent blessing over all those seeking this religion it is perhaps one of the most beautifully constructed churches of its type to be found anywhere [Music] the first congregational church rises impressively it looms in its piety above the rooftops of hollywood as a true symbol of religious inspiration sunset boulevard stretches from the heart of los angeles to the pacific well what do you know it's bob hope and red skelton matched in a golf match the caddy won so the comedians remain friends glamour girls such as this make it a little hard to concentrate on watching the ball forrest tucker goes in for golfing too an interested spectator is guy kibby ladies man donomiechi lends himself to the game but it's bob hope has the ladies this time hollywood homes are beautiful too george burns and gracie allen have proved this chico marx's residence is also breathtaking the home of screen land's notorious fad man wallace berry has promises exceeded by none and the luxurious mansion of that great violinist jack benny leaves any visitor envious all in all hollywood with its glamorous and unusual moods is a town of unequaled intrigue the visitor bidding a dew that for a few moments anyway he has found the pot of gold at the end of his rainbow i
