Walter

Follows the daily routine of Walter, a paraplegic since three years of age, as he goes through his morning chores and then drives to a community college where he is studying to be an architect. Joins with him as he shares experiences with family and friends and stresses that a positive mental attitude has helped Walter to come to terms with his handicap. Exemplifies his energy and sense of competition as he plays wheelchair basketball with another team at the college., A moving story about a young, self-sufficient, black paraplegic who has special courage, ambition, and determination to make a good life for himself. Walter's day begins as he swings his paralyzed legs out of bed and prepares for his daily activities. He lives alone, but has dinner every evening with his adoptive white parents. He is a student of architecture at the community college, a wheelchair handler of dazzling grace, and the spark plug of his wheelchair basketball team, "I don't feel handicapped. Other people look at me that way, and it's their problem, not mine."
