Description: Presented by the McAllen & Laredo Chambers of Commerce, this promotional film advertises the various attractions to be found along the US-Mexico border and within Mexico in the 1960s. The film begins with a friendship ceremony featuring American and Mexican officials pledging cooperation at the border itself, and then takes viewers on a tour of the region. Highlights include a trip to the race track and the annual Washington’s Birthday Celebrations in Laredo; a journey through Mexico cities such as Monterey, Guadalajara, and Nueva Laredo (including footage of a bull fight and a Mexican rodeo called a charreda); and finally the convention facilities and golf courses of McAllen, “the City of Palms.”
