USMC 104647 Decade 1970 Description A training film produced by the Combat Pictorial Branch and distributed by the Naval Photographic Center. A narrator describes Operation Jaguar, a large-scale amphibious landing exercise, and the various roles supporting arms will play. USS Saint Paul (CA-73) fires its AA guns, and the USS Hooper (DE-1026) is joined by two additional unidentified destroyer escort ships. Several A4D aircraft perform air maneuvers, one drops bombs. An A6 aircraft bombs a forest. An instructor gestures to a chart and explains the exercise to a group of soldiers holding M14 and M607 rifles. A graphic lists supporting arms, naval gunfire, air, artillery, and tanks while soldiers take notes. Ships and aircraft bomb the beach as several LVTP-5s land troops. The coordination center meets aboard the USS Saint Paul, while marines set up on the beach.
