Description
The TTU (Troop Training Unit) was a special Naval unit mostly composed of Marines who fought in the Pacific in WWII. The initial function of the TTU was to teach amphibious landing skills to all of the military services. After the entrance of Communist China into the Korean War in late 1950, the TTU took on the task of training troops for amphibious evacuation.

A Naval K-class blimp flies over water. Naval ships are visible in the background. Marines and sailors on the deck of an aircraft carrier watch the blimp. A close-up shot of the blimp's gondola. The blimp flies over the deck of the carrier. A Marine is lowered from the blimp to the deck of the carrier via a bosun's chair. An unidentified Naval officer and an unidentified Naval Captain greet the Marine who descended from the blimp. The blimp begins to fly away. Marines and sailors watch as LCVPs move towards attack transports. Footage of the attack transport USS New Kent (APA-217). Footage of the LST USS Mahnomen County (LST-912). The USS Mahnomen County pulls up near the shore. A bulldozer drives down the beach. LVT-3s with Marines on board move towards the shore. Marines disembark the LVT-3s.
