Description: A film about the fascinating qualities of discarded furniture. Junk is a subject that lends itself in a particular way to the composition of images in color: imposing no natural limits on the framing, it can be photographed according to aesthetic requirements only. Humidity, daylight, and the proximity of green leaves and grass render a luminosity to the materials incompatible with the subdued tones of the living rooms they came from. Discarded objects tend to arrange themselves in clusters of quiet abstractness, but they also have a disquieting effect. Their aura of shelteredness and the home is undercut by decay and traces of subsequent use, emanating illicit suggestions.--N.B.
