Description: This extraordinary silent film, an amateur produced travelogue of U.S. National Parks, was created by ho of San Francisco. The black and white section of the film is somewhat damaged, as the plastic coating on the Kodak stock has begun to crack or craze, but it nevertheless presents a breathtaking portrait of these natural wonders. Title cards indicate: Grand Teton National Park (:22), overnight at Jackson Lake (2:26) — with images of fishing, tent camping, etc. The South Entrance to Yellowstone National Park is shown at (3:48), Yellowstone Lake (3:56), Mud Volcano Dragon’s Mouth (4:20), Yellowstone River, rapids, Yellowstone Falls and canyon (4:48), sign for trail to Red Rock and view of lower falls (8:10), upper falls sign (8:32). At (9:01) a bear is shown at (9:01) raiding a garbage can at a campsite. At (9:27) a sign for Tower Falls. At (9:45) Mammoth Terrace and Hot Springs. At (10:00) a bear cub poses for the camera. At (10:29) a large pile of antlers, possibly at Jackson Hole. At (11:19), another shot of the bear cub. At (11:24), a sign for Roaring Mountain followed at (11:41) by Bathtub Spring and the Norris Geyser Basin and Gibbon Falls (12:07). At (13:11) classic shots of the Old Faithful Geyser and Riverside Geyser. The film comes to a close with a shot of the Crater Lake National Park (15:15).
