“True story taken from the official monographs of the U.S. Marine Corps.” “Some Pictorial Liberties were unavoidable, but in the analysis of victory, one plane becomes l planes; one battle, all battles; one Marine, all Marines.”
Extremely ethnocentric, derogatory description of the island as an introduction to its large military, strategic importance during World War I. This representation is a documented history of the taking of the island from the point of view of the US Marine Corps; it is not a reconstruction but it is edited to create a movie story though presented in documentary fashion. Very well put together. Footage of war maneuvers; illustrations depicting tactics; great primary visuals.
