Description: Uses animation to show how a fictional cobbler of the colonial period finds himself honored by helping to ratify the Constitution. The immigrant cobbler witnesses the many rivalries that existed among the colonies as he travels to Philadelphia to buy leather. His arrival coincides with the meeting of the colonial delegates who, after many compromises, agree upon a constitution for ratification by the independent states. Tom Schuler, cobbler, is then elected candidate to the ratifying convention in his state. Concludes with the thought, "Freedom belongs to those who work for it."
