Complete Record: This film series concerns the social and intellectual development of six boys and girls ranging in age from 7 to 11. It is a racially mixed group exhibiting many recognizable characteristics that allow the young audience to identify easily with the story situations. The information diversions encountered by the children on their trips, the charming songs that accompany parts of the action, and the understressed moral lessons provided by the stories are as lovingly presented as the beautiful settings. learning is accomplished as gently and as joyfully as in a live action “Hailstones and Halibut Bones”. The children react to and learn from each other. Their scrapes and conflicts provide the drama and humor that make the situations realistic, while demonstrating the independence, interdependence and value judgments in the peer relationships. This series teaches the viewer the confidence that comes with developing self-reliance, the exciting gratification of discovering for one’s self, and the joys of using our natural environment properly.
