Complete Record: Opens with the seal of the Federal Aviation Administration, then a shot of a 1950s or 1960s jet taking off and spewing tons of exhaust. There are several shots of airplanes taking off, then exteriors of the control tower. Inside the tower, an air traffic controller in aviator sunglasses gives directions into a handheld radio. There are more interior shots of the control tower, with a row of controllers in shirts and ties sitting in front of radar screens. Everyone looks very busy and is wearing 1950s or 60s headsets. We see the activities of the FAA: machinery at work in the control tower, radar installations in rural areas, and medical tests for pilots, flight simulation . FAA inspectors check planes, including private propeller planes. There is also a row of women air traffic controllers.
