The film begins with interviews with racing drivers, the first of whom says that “to have a go against other men and the pull of gravity” is what spurs him on. Scenes of car racing, skiing, rodeo riding, football, sky diving, ice hockey, bullfighting, surfing, motorboat racing, karate, motorcycling, and other action sports provide background for the film’s discussion of the motivation of people ho engage in high-risk sports and the question: why does man have a will to win?

Portrays the motion of the competitive sports of automobile and motorcycle racing, toboganning, skiing, surfing, and skydiving. Narrated by Barry Sullivan.
