Description: Uncle Jay and Packer Jack from "The Uncle Jay Show" visit the San Antonio Zoo where its Director, Fred Stark, shows them around and introduces them to some of the animals. The reel is composed of raw footage, outtakes, and silent B-roll which would have had voice or music over it in the final production. Highlights include Packer Jack inviting baboons to smoke, a chimpanzee trying to wear Jack's hat, and Fred Stark's explanations of a number of animal habits and habitats. “The Uncle Jay Show” aired on Austin television network KTBC from 1953 until 1977. The children’s program was usually filmed in front of a live studio audience, and was hosted by Jay Hodgson with assistance from “Packer Jack” Wallace and Willard Dyer.
