Features photographic portraits of the mid-19th century made by two Scottish photographers, David Octavius Hill and Robert Adamson, of soldiers, dignitaries, personal friends, Clydeside fishermen and the first assembly of the Church of Scotland. All were taken by means of long exposure in strong sunlight. Commentator: Aidan Thomson
