The Stanislavsky Century

Examines the life and work of Russian actor and director Constantine Stanislavsky against the tumultuous backdrop of a censored and oppressed Russia. Uses previously unknown footage of this artist interacting with other giants of his era: from Lenin to Stalin, Meyerhold to Mayakovsky, and Isadora Duncan to Stella Adler. Includes scenes from his productions of Ibsen, Gogol, Hamlet with Gordon Craig as co-director, and Moliere's Malade Imaginaire with Stanislavsky as Argan.
