Presents a young Catholic student who becomes deeply concerned about the life and hopes of a Negro youth as he contrasts it with his own carefully planned and protected future. Explains that his reaction produces a crisis in relationships with his parents and the girl he has planned to marry and that his commitment to the cause of racial justice eventually leads to his death.
