This educational film is a Martin Associates production titled “The Park” from the 1970s and it shows youngsters, who are addicted to marijuana and cocaine, and portrays the concerned friends and partners, while displaying the damages of abusing marijuana and cocaine. They start playing (01:30). The boys play baseball (01:49). Girls are watching the game (02:11). An older guy walks onto the field and speaks to the pitcher, Greg (02:28). The older guy takes the bat and takes a shot (02:45). He walks past the girls (03:32). He smokes a cigarette (03:41). Greg smokes a cigarette (03:58). The boys continue to play baseball and Greg attempts to imitate the older guy (04:22). He walks past the girls (05:09). He smokes a cigarette (05:18). He offers the girls a cigarette and they leave (05:37). He sees a trash can with a ‘don't start smoking’ sign and throws the cigarette in (05:44). The older guy meets two friends in the park (06:03). They start a hike (06:12). The three guys stop and one, Jeff, offers marijuana cigarettes to his friends (06:37). One friend says no and leaves (06:49). The two remaining friends sit down in the grass (06:56). Jeff attempts to convince his friend to quit normal cigarettes and start smoking marijuana (07:01). The friend doesn’t accept (07:11). He walks away (08:06). Jeff arrives home and argues with his father (08:24). He goes to his room to call his girlfriend (08:52). He is sitting in the car with his girlfriend (09:25). He drives recklessly (09:28). His girlfriend confronts him about smoking marijuana (09:35). They pick up a friend, Terry (09:42). Jeff drives recklessly (10:02). Views of the friends at school during a class (10:05). A doctor begins lecturing the class about marijuana (10:18). Jeff and Terry are making fun of the doctor (11:28). The doctor continues lecturing about the dangers of drugs (11:44). Jeff and Terry and their girlfriends talk about the class (12:47). They make plans to go to the park on the weekend (13:03). The girls leave (13:12). Terry leaves (13:24). The girlfriends are sitting in the park and Jeff has stood them up (13:36). The two girls start walking in the park (13:48). Jeff’s girlfriend tells Terry’s girlfriend, Sarah, about Terry’s switch from marijuana to cocaine (13:54). Terry is playing on a playground (14:18). “The Swings” title overlay (14:20). Terry runs to greet the girls (14:29). He talks to Sarah (14:35). They leave together and walk through the park (14:58). Sarah confronts Terry about his cocaine addiction (15:03). Sarah arrives home (15:44). She borrows books from her father (the doctor from the class) about drugs (15:58). A party (16:26). Terry sits alone in a room and sniffs cocaine (16:37). Sarah’s father is opening presents (16:46). The party (17:08). Sarah reads about cocaine (17:14). Terry offers his friends cocaine at the party (17:27). Slow Motion footage of Terry and his friends dancing (18:08). The friends are all experiencing bad side effects (18:24). Terry and his friends are talking in the park and Sarah runs to them (18:56). She confronts Terry with the dangers of cocaine (18:59). Terry and his friends act recklessly high on cocaine (19:07). Terry arrives late at class (19:33). Sarah talks to her father about Terry’s abuse (19:58). The father answers the phone (20:17). He hangs up and they go to Terry’s house (20:28). The father finds Terry during a bad trip (20:50).
