Description: Episode number 1 of Series “The 19th Century Novel”. A discussion on some of the differences between the novel in its television dramatised form and the original prose. The film uses the problems involved in dramatisation as a way of discussing the novels concerned. The novels dealt with are Cousin Bette and Great Expectations.
