Description: Documents the Bread and Puppet Theatre's Domestic Resurrection Circus performed in Plainfield, Vermont in July, 1975. An army of 18-foot puppets perform before an audience of 3000. The stories they enact depict the natural world and the threats to it from war and pollution. The camera moves to the circus with troupes of horses, clowns and papier-mache lions, into a peep show with a dancing bear, and a white lady followed by a presentation of the Hallelujah story. The bread, baked for all attending, underlines the troupe's premise that theatre should be as basic as bread.
