Description: This home movie documents the construction of St. Gregory's Catholic Church and School in San Antonio, dedicated in 1955. The building in the film served temporarily as a church and assembly hall; now it is the school's library. Up until the mid 1950s, the Catholics in northwest San Antonio were affiliated with St. Mary Magdalen's parish, where Monsignor John Morkovsky served as pastor from 1954 - 56. As the area grew and the church became overcrowded, the parish of St. Gregory the Great was authorized, with Morkovsky also serving as pastor briefly until Father Holden was appointed to the church.
