Complete Record: Highlighted by excellent nature photography, this film contrasts the environment of British Columbia’s high plains region with its history and industry. Indians were the first inhabitants, followed by an influx of miners during the gold rush of 1859. Later came farmers and ranchers who found the land fertile and moist. Forestry grew to be the region’s largest industry, and some of the techniques currently being employed to protect that industry from loss to forest fires are briefly examined. The high plains region is also cattle country , and modern cowboys are observed rounding up, branding and driving cattle from one range to another, and taking part in a rodeo.
