Description: This 1959 home movie captures Veterans Day festivities in Austin. Cameraman Henry Kuempel first attends the Veterans Day parade, during which junior high school bands, veteran auxiliary groups, and boy scout troops march down Congress Avenue. Kuempel next documents a memorial dedication ceremony. The monument, erected at the Texas State Capitol, honors veterans of the 36th Infantry Division. Governor Price Daniel and his wife, Jean Baldwin Daniel, unveil the memorial and place a dedicatory wreath at its foot. Later, the footage cuts to shots of Zilker Botanical Garden and a military band performance.
