Two elementary-school girls are best friends until a misunderstanding turns their friendship to hatred. At first, Karen can't understand why Amy suddenly isn't speaking to her, and she responds with a similar cold shoulder. Karen soon finds that she doesn't enjoy hating Amy, and decides that communication might solve the problem. Based on: The Hating book by Charlotte Zolotow.
