The Elephant's Child

When the world was new, elephants had no trunks, just funny bulgy noses--not good for much of anything. But all that changed when an elephant's child, full of "insatiable curiosity" (he asked ever so many questions) asked what the crocodile had for dinner. His rather alarming discovery tells us why all elephants today have long trunks.
