Description: This unedited footage from Houston’s KPRC-TV captures the Duke of Windsor’s visit to the Manned Spacecraft Center on October 15, 1965. NASA astronauts and administrators greet the former monarch outside the entrance before guiding him on a tour of the Exhibits Hall and Mission Control Center. The former king was in Houston for medical tests at Methodist Hospital, where he underwent major heart surgery with Dr. Michael DeBakey the previous December. The Duke extended his stay to visit the space center, returning to New York two days later.
